Alexander Arguelles is an interesting fellow. For one thing, he is extremely dedicated polyglot (see here for his regimen).
View this video of Alexander marching back across a bridge speaking a Chinese text that he simultaneously listening to, in order to demonstrate shadowing, the technique he is said to have invented.

I know - at first encounter his approach sounds eccentric and extreme.
Nevertheless, I like Alexander's approach of simultaneously listening and speaking with the help of and authentic piece of text. If you look into the theory, there's good sense behind it.
